Pragmatics

Pragmatics refers to how we use language to communicate in a variety of situations, such as social scenarios. A child may benefit from pragmatics language therapy if they have difficulty:

  • Taking turns in conversation
  • Making and keeping friends
  • Adhering to social rules such as personal space
  • Understanding abstract or figurative language
  • Recognizing and/or regulating different emotions
  • Understanding others’ perspectives
  • Solving social conflicts
